SO, WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?
The Good News, or “Gospel” is that God loves us and wants us to spend eternity with him in heaven. John 3:16 The Bad News is that we’re all sinners, Romans 3:23 and the penalty for sin is death, but God offers us eternal life as a gift. Romans 6:23. This is possible because Jesus Christ paid the penalty for us by dying on the cross. Romans 5:8
However, a gift doesn’t become ours until we accept it! To accept God’s gift, we must admit to ourselves and to God that we really are sinners and that there is nothing we can do to earn heaven. Once we have come to this realization, we need to be willing to turn from sin (repent) Acts17:30 and humbly receive the gift of salvation. This is done by confessing Jesus as our Lord and believing that God has raised him from the dead.
Romans 10:9 says, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
